We are a global team that is tech-focused and includes experts in AI, chemistry, cybersecurity, physics, mathematics, medicine, engineering, and other specialties. The company emerged from Alphabet Inc. as an independent, growth capital-backed company in 2022, funded by leading investors and supported by a braintrust of industry leaders. At SandboxAQ, we’ve cultivated an environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, and impact. By investing deeply in our people, we’re building a thriving, global workforce poised to tackle the world's epic challenges. Join us to advance your career in pursuit of an inspiring mission, in a community of like-minded people who value entrepreneurialism, ownership, and transformative impact. THE OPPORTUNITY SandboxAQ’s AI Simulation (AISim) division develops and applies Large Quantitative Models (LQMs) that are grounded in physics, chemistry, mathematics and biology to simulate molecular behavior with scientific precision and accelerate discovery in the physical world across biopharma, chemicals, advanced materials, healthcare, and so much more. The AISim division is seeking an exceptional Senior Director of Product Management to own the strategy, roadmap, and commercial trajectory of the ChemSim business — SandboxAQ's AI-driven materials discovery platform. This is a dual-mandate leadership role: in the near term, this leader will be the primary product driver for SandboxAQ's $500M CHIPS Act R&D award from the U.S. Department of Commerce, ensuring the team delivers against the program's contractual milestone gates across four critical-material verticals — Catalysis, Batteries, Magnets, and PFAS Replacements. In parallel, this leader will build the commercial foundation that transforms ChemSim from a government-funded R&D program into a product-led growth business generating durable, recurring revenue from the broader materials discovery market. Reporting to the Vice President of Product, this leader will manage a team of 4 PM ICs — one per contracted vertical — while partnering closely with the Senior Director of Platform PM in a two-in-a-box model. Beyond the CHIPS mandate, they will own the ChemSim go-to-market strategy, pricing and packaging, and expansion into adjacent verticals including oil and gas, energy, specialty chemicals, and advanced manufacturing. This is a once-in-a-career opportunity to shape a category-defining AI platform for materials science at the intersection of national security, scientific discovery, and commercial scale. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Own the end-to-end ChemSim product strategy, vision, and roadmap — spanning CHIPS Act contractual deliverables, vertical platform depth, and commercial expansion into new markets. - Hire, develop, and lead a team of 3-4 PM ICs across the Catalysis, Batteries, PFAS, and Magnets verticals — driving key deliverables personally until the team is fully ramped. - Partner with the Senior Director of PM, Core Platform in a two-in-a-box model to define, prioritize, and sequence the platform capabilities required to support ChemSim's contractual and commercial milestones. - Own the ChemSim commercial strategy: define the go-to-market approach, pricing and packaging model, and customer segmentation for semiconductor ecosystem customers and expansion verticals (oil and gas, energy, specialty chemicals, advanced manufacturing). - Build and manage strategic partner relationships at the product level — with fabs, equipment OEMs, chemical suppliers, national laboratories, and manufacturing partners — translating partner requirements into platform and vertical product features. - Establish a data-driven operating rhythm: define the metrics that matter across both contract performance (validated MVP candidates, dataset quality, workflow adoption) and commercial KPIs (ARR, net revenue retention, expansion pipeline), and drive course corrections against OKRs. - Develop and defend build-vs-buy and build-vs-partner decisions for domain-specific scientific engines, LQMs, and validation tooling across ChemSim verticals. - Serve as the primary product voice to DOC/CRDO program stakeholders, semiconductor ecosystem partners, and prospective commercial customers for ChemSim. ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE - 10+ years in product management, including 5+ years managing teams of individual contributors. - Strong domain expertise in materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or an adjacent scientific discipline — sufficient to engage credibly with computational scientists, experimental validation partners, and domain SMEs. - Track record shipping AI/ML-driven scientific or engineering platform products at enterprise scale, including experience with multi-tenant SaaS, API governance, and enterprise security and compliance. - Experience building and executing B2B go-to-market strategy for technical software — including pricing, packaging, sales motion definition, and expansion into new verticals. - Comfort navigating deep ambiguity: translating unclear scientific and customer problems into structured roadmaps, success criteria, and measurable outcomes. - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. - MBA, or equivalent business leadership and P&L experience. HIGHLY DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE - Experience in or deep familiarity with ChemSim's target commercial verticals: semiconductor manufacturing, oil and gas, energy storage, specialty chemicals, or advanced manufacturing. - Prior experience engaging with semiconductor ecosystem partners — fabs, equipment OEMs, chemical suppliers — at the product or business development level. - Track record building product-led growth motions for technical or scientific software platforms, including community-driven adoption, developer/scientist self-serve, and land-and-expand commercial models. - Physically located in the Greater Seattle Metropolitan area or SF Bay Area - Experience working on U.S. government R&D programs — CHIPS Act, DARPA, DOE, or equivalent — including familiarity with milestone-gated funding structures and Fulfillment/compliance processes. WHY JOIN US? We offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits package designed to support your health, financial well-being, and life outside of work. - Career Defining Work: Your work will directly accelerate the discovery of better drugs and better materials, advance human health, and enable safer and more sustainable technologies by helping customers put AI Simulation capabilities into real world use. - Compensation: Competitive base salary, performance-based incentives or bonuses (where applicable), and equity participation. - Benefits: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents with generous employer premium contributions, retirement savings with company matching, paid parental leave, and inclusive family-building benefits. - Work-Life Balance: Fully remote, Flexible paid time off, company-wide seasonal breaks, and support for flexible work arrangements that enable sustainable performance. - Learning and Growth: Opportunities for continuous learning and growth through on-the-job development, cross-functional collaboration, and access to internal learning and development programs. HR Operations Lead, People Infrastructure
ABOUT SANDBOXAQ SandboxAQ is a high-growth company delivering AI solutions that address some of the world's greatest challenges. The company’s Large Quantitative Models (LQMs) power advances in life sciences, financial services, navigation, cybersecurity, and other sectors. THE OPPORTUNITY At SandboxAQ, People infrastructure is not a back-office function. It is the platform on which we build the employee experience. We have strong foundations in place, and we are entering the next evolution of how we operate. As the company grows, we need someone who can build for today while designing for what comes next. What works at 300 people is not what works at 600, and this role is about helping us stay ahead of that curve. We are looking for a HR Operations Lead to own and evolve our People Infrastructure in North America, with select global overlap. This is a senior role that is both hands on, as well as responsible for the work and execution of more junior team members. The right person will bring strong judgment, systems thinking, and a practical builder mindset. They will know how to create infrastructure and experiences that work for employees, managers, and the business at the same time. This person will lead across systems, workflows, policy, service delivery, and operational design. They should be comfortable being hands on and running critical day-to-day operations, improving the architecture behind them, and bringing practical ideas (that you have implemented prior!) for how AI and agentic workflows can help us work smarter as we scale. Experience supporting organizational growth, change, and M&A integration is highly valuable in this role. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Own HR Operations for North America across the employee lifecycle, while partnering on selected global processes and initiatives. - Lead operational excellence across employee changes, leaves, separations, compliance, documentation, and employee support. - Own and improve core HR systems, workflows, and operating infrastructure with a focus on scale, usability, control, and reliability. - Translate policy into clear, workable processes and build durable operating practices, documentation, and governance. - Strengthen workflows for contractors, consultants, advisors, and other non-employee populations. - Manage and develop junior HR Operations team members, creating clarity, accountability, and stronger execution across the team. - Partner closely with the People Team, Talent Acquisition, Finance, Legal, IT, Security, and other stakeholders to improve how work moves across the business. - Identify friction, reduce manual work, and introduce practical uses of AI, automation, and agentic workflows to improve quality, speed, and scale. - Help the function evolve for the future by building infrastructure that can support a more complex organization over time, including periods of rapid growth, change, or integration. - Lead on select sensitive employee relations matters including investigations, policy review, and decision making - Drive strategic projects and programs to make us more future ready (ex: roadmap for tech stack changes, new global time off policies) ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE - Significant experience in HR Operations, People Operations, or HR systems-focused roles, with ownership of regional or multi-jurisdictional operations. Prior deliverables may include (but not limited to): - Technology evaluation, re-design and implementation (ex: new HRIS system) - Significant policy design and transition (ex: you made a large scale global policy change and drove the change management) - Redesigning work flows with the use of AI/agentic solutions - Experience leading complex employee relations matters (ex: difficult policy decision, standard employee investigation) - Minimum of 9+ years of progressive experience across HR systems, operational infrastructure, employee lifecycle processes, policy execution, and service delivery. - Someone who has held an HR Business Partner role (or similar employee facing role) - Prior people management experience, including meaningful experience coaching and developing junior team members. - Strong systems orientation and comfort with HRIS platforms, workflow tools, reporting, and process design. - Experience building or maturing contractor, consultant, or non-employee workforce processes. - Experience supporting company growth and change, with exposure to M&A, integration, or organizational transition work strongly preferred. - Ability to think beyond the current moment and design for where the company is going, not just where it is today. - Strong judgment, high discretion, and the ability to move fluidly between strategy and hands-on execution. - Excellent communication skills and the ability to turn ambiguity into clear action. - Experience in an AI-focused, high-growth, or highly innovative environment, with credible ideas for how AI and agentic approaches can level up HR Operations. HIGHLY DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE - You are curious, highly responsive, and energized by building better ways of working. - You bring both creativity and pragmatism, and know how to balance fresh thinking with what will actually work. - You can see both the immediate operational need and the longer-term operating model behind it. - You care about quality and discipline, but you are not attached to process for process’s sake. - You like using technology to modernize work and improve the employee experience. - You know how to lead others while staying close enough to the details to keep the function sharp. - You want to be ahead of the competition versus waiting to see if what others are doing will work. - You are highly collaborative, stakeholder oriented, and communicative. Senior Platform Engineer, Medical Devices
THE OPPORTUNITY We are seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to develop the infrastructure, tooling, and pipelines required to support the operational needs of our Medical Device product, from an embedded Linux fleet in the field to the cloud. Treating infrastructure as a product, you'll build the systems that let our device, cloud, and data-science software engineers ship quickly and safely. This is a hands-on, systems-minded role - you will write real tooling, not just pipeline YAML- and you will make the compliant path the fast path so we never trade patient safety for speed. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES PLATFORM & INFRASTRUCTURE - OTA & Kiosk Fleet Lifecycle: Own the build, signing, rollout, rollback, and per-device configuration for our in-field Linux kiosk fleet—along with the update mechanisms, recovery mechanisms, and operational tooling that keep fielded devices safe and reliable, and working with our cloud system. - CI/CD & Release Promotion: Own CI/CD, test-gated promotion, controlled approvals, and release traceability across both cloud and device software, defining the deployment control plane that makes releases boring, reversible, and auditable. - Observability & Infrastructure Quality: Own the operational quality bar for the platform—observability, alerting, reliability, backup and recovery, auditability, and security controls—and build the tooling that makes the safe path the default path. - AWS Infrastructure Support: Operate the AWS and Terraform foundation on which the product and engineering teams depend —reliable, secure, and reproducible—focused on keeping production systems running, rather than infrastructure for its own sake. - Developer Self-Service: Establish golden paths and self-service tools that empower engineers to deploy independently, while serving as a direct advisor for complex build or deployment issues. EXECUTION & OWNERSHIP - Hands-on Software Engineering: You design, build, test, and maintain real tooling and services, held to the same engineering standards as product code. - Engineer How We Meet Regulation: Turn our regulatory requirements into automated, tested tooling tied directly to delivery—traceability, software bill of materials (SBOM), artifact signing, and audit trails, plus pipeline and device security. CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION - Cross-Functional Execution: Be the platform infrastructure's technical voice with Product, Clinical, Regulatory, and InfoSec—translating their needs into platform work and supporting our clinical studies and regulatory submissions (e.g., 510(k) / De Novo). - Data Platform Enablement: Support the data-science team's platform needs—reproducible environments, scalable compute, and reliable model serving—as they arise. ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE - Proven Public Cloud Platform Experience: 8+ years in platform, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering in AWS, with Staff-level ownership of production CI/CD and release systems for a complex, distributed system manipulating and storing sensitive data—paired with strong, general software-engineering ability in a modern language (Python or Go) - Linux & Device Fleet Operations: Experience operating Linux-based systems and fleets of networked/IoT devices, including OTA update strategies. - CI/CD & Release Ownership: Demonstrated ownership of CI/CD and release/promotion systems, including test gating, approvals, and reversible deployments. - Infrastructure as Code: Deep expertise in Terraform/Terragrunt, plus containerization (Docker; ECS/Fargate and/or Kubernetes). - Observability & Production Reliability: Experience in building observability (Datadog/CloudWatch) and operating production systems for monitoring and alerting to provide reliability. HIGHLY DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE - Regulated, Safety-Critical, or High-Assurance Experience (strongly preferred): Experience delivering software in a regulated, safety-critical, or other high-assurance / sensitive-data environment—medical device (IEC 62304 Class B/C) preferred, with adjacent domains such as aerospace (DO-178C), automotive (ISO 26262) or other highly regulated / high-assurance environments (e.g., financial services, defense) also welcome - Mender / Embedded OTA: Hands-on experience with Mender or comparable embedded-Linux update systems, including signed images and A/B update strategies. - Medical Device / SaMD: Experience delivering "Software as a Medical Device" through the full lifecycle, and familiarity with FDA pathways (510(k) / De Novo). - Security & Data Privacy Depth: Experience designing HIPAA/GDPR-compliant systems—audit logging, secure data transmission, PKI, device authentication, and threat modeling for connected devices. - Data / ML Platform (MLOps): Experience in data engineering or infrastructure support for data-science and ML teams, including data versioning and production model serving. - Networking & Multi-Cloud: Secure overlay networks (Tailscale/WireGuard) and multi-account/multi-region network design, and experience with GCP or Azure alongside AWS. - Diagnostic & Imaging Devices: Familiarity with diagnostic or imaging devices that have hardware in the loop, or similar physiological monitoring platforms (e.g., ECG). WHY JOIN US? Join us to advance your career in pursuit of an inspiring mission, in a community of like-minded people who value entrepreneurialism, ownership, and transformative impact. THE OPPORTUNITY R&D teams solve problems nobody has solved before. That's exactly what makes them hard to ship: the scope shifts as the science reveals itself, and the roadmap you set in January may need to look different by June, due to new results changing what “done” means. We're looking for a Technical Program Manager who has run point on programs like this before. We’re especially interested in cases where the stakes were high enough that a missed milestone was expensive, publicly visible, or both. You've been the person who saw a bottleneck three weeks before it became a crisis. You've translated between scientists who need room to explore and finance/product stakeholders who need a defensible number. And, you know how to build a roadmap that's rigorous enough to hold people accountable and flexible enough to survive contact with real research. You'll partner directly with our R&D department head and Product and Engineering to set ROI-optimal strategy, then own the execution machinery that turns that strategy into shipped, on-time, drama-free, and defensible results. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Anticipate bottlenecks before they're bottlenecks. Work with R&D and Product to define requirements, surface technical dependencies, and build delivery schedules that account for trade-offs before they become fire drills. - Translate between three different languages. R&D needs room to be wrong in productive ways. Product and Engineering need specificity and commitments. Finance needs predictability against ROI. You'll build the shared vocabulary and cadence that lets all three coexist without anyone feeling boxed in or left in the dark. - Design execution rituals that fit a scientific team:sprints, checkpoints, and reviews that create accountability without forcing lab-paced work into a factory-paced cadence. - Own the roadmap end-to-end: build it, defend it, update it as the science evolves, and make sure it stays a living tool rather than a document nobody trusts. - Drive resourcing conversations with leadership and finance, making the case for what R&D needs and when, backed by a track record they can trust. - Get launches out the door cleanly. Technical Program Manager, R&D
When a milestone, paper, or product moment is on the line, you're the person orchestrating the last mile. You’ll coordinate the handoffs, catch the loose thread, and make sure it lands without a scramble. - Play a critical role in reshaping drug discovery, advancing machine learning, and protecting humanity from disease. ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE - 8+ years in technical program management or a similar role, with real experience sitting inside, rather than just tracking the status of, R&D or deep-science teams that shipped world-class products. - A track record, proven by specific moments you can point to, of stepping into a program mid-crisis (a stalled milestone, a resourcing gap, a scope blowup) and getting it back on track. - Demonstrated ability to build and defend ROI-generating roadmaps for teams doing genuinely novel, high-uncertainty scientific work. - Proven ability to get fluent in a new scientific domain fast enough to make good calls in it independently as demonstrated by either or both of: - An advanced degree in a technical field, or - Deep experience working within heavily scientific teams. - Experience partnering directly with finance and product leadership to tie technical delivery to investment decisions. - A bias toward asking "how might this plan break in six months?" before it does. You plan for your own team's disruption, not just external risk. HIGHLY DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE - Experience at a startup, or in another environment where the roadmap changed faster than the org chart could keep up. - Direct biotech or biopharma experience. - Degree in machine learning and/or a drug-discovery-related field. - Experience standing up program management tooling, dashboards, or automation pipelines that a scientific team actually kept using. WHY JOIN US? We offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits package designed to support your health, financial well-being, and life outside of work. - Work-Life Balance: Flexible paid time off, company-wide seasonal breaks, and support for flexible work arrangements that enable sustainable performance. - Career Development: Opportunities for continuous learning and growth through on-the-job development, cross-functional collaboration, and access to internal learning and development programs. SANDBOXAQ WELCOMES ALL We are committed to fostering a culture of belonging and respect, where diverse perspectives are actively sought and valued. Our multidisciplinary environment provides ample opportunity for continuous growth - working alongside humble, empowered, and ambitious colleagues ready to tackle epic challenges.
